Riversway Labour Party has selected Linda Crompton to be their candidate for the by-election in Riversway on 15 July. Support for Linda was unanimous, with a large number of members coming out to attend the meeting.
Local members were confident that they had found their 'street champion' for Riversway; Linda had served 4 impressive years as a local Labour councillor for Riversway ward and is well known in the local community.
Bhikhu Patel, local Labour councillor for Riversway, said 'I'm really pleased that Linda has been selected as our candidate. She was an integral part of the Labour team in Riversway and everyone knows how dedicated she has been to the local community. There's nothing accidental about Linda's selection; she's definitely the street champion tha t the people of Riversway deserve.'
Linda Crompton expressed her gratitude to the local party. 'I am very proud and honoured to be given this opportunity to represent Labour in Riversway' she said, 'I have lived and worked in Riversway for the past 39 years and know the area very well. I have done my best to support the residents of Riversway in the past, and I hope that they will give me the opportunity to do so once again.'
Dave Wilson, recently elected as a local Labour councillor for Riversway, said 'We'll be fighting a positive campaign, especially on our proposals in out manifesto. But we're also determined to expose the Tory and Liberal Democrat alliance for what it is, and it's difficult not to get away from the fact that they are mired in bad management and incompetence.'
Preston Labour Party has pledged to promote policies that incorporate Labour values, servicing the needs of the residents who need them the most.
