CITY OF PRESTON LABOUR PARTY

Labour Councillors were left bemused and shocked after the Lib Dems and Tories imposed massive and unfair charges for replacement bins, only for the Lib Dems to call the charges a ‘stealth tax’ and the Tories did not defend the charges either.

The Lib Dems were quoted as saying that “This charge is a stealth tax on our bins”.  When the Tory spokesperson was asked by Labour Councillors if he agreed with the comments by the Lib Dems, he refused to refute their allegation.

Under the current policy, if your bin is stolen or vandalised you are charged for getting a replacement.

Labour finance spokesperson, Martyn Rawlinson said ‘This is typical of the Lib Dems; they vote with the Tories in Council but tell people a completely different story.  They’re not being honest with the people of Preston.’

Labour Group leader, John Collins said ‘The  Tories and Lib Dems have shown their usual contempt for the people of Preston.  We should be tough on crime, but the Tories and Lib Dems are being tough on the victims of crime. Only Preston Labour has consistently camapigned against these unfair charges.’
