Broadgate is considered a high flood risk area by the Environment Agency. However, not many people are aware of what to do if the area is flooded. Therefore we have organised a public
meeting and invited representatives from the Environment Agency to talk about being prepared if the unthinkable happens in our area.
Background
Your local Labour Councillors have been prominent in trying to raise awareness of the threat of flooding in the area. Despite attempts by opposition parties to stop debate, we have forced the issue
onto the agenda at Preston Council.
Recently the Environment Agency produced details about a new flood warning
system for the Broadgate area. Local Councillor Jack Davenport invited representatives from the Agency to the Central Area Forum, held at the Gujarat Hindu Centre, in December. Unfortunately, the
Forum was not publicised by local media and few local people attended.
We have called this meeting to give you the opportunity, as a local resident, to find out about the new system and speak directly to representatives from the Environment Agency.
We encourage local residents in the Broadgate area to attend this meeting and find out about this important new service that can protect you and your families.
Meeting to be held on
Thursday 24th January at 7pm
