A Manifesto for Preston Families

Veronica local resident

Preston Labour Party is presenting a manifesto for the Local Elections, giving residents a clear choice for the future.

The manifesto sets out policies true to Labour values; with families in Preston, young and old, in mind.

The manifesto lays out the blueprint for council policies centred around 5 key pledges

  • To restore safety standards and invest in upgrading and improving local children’s play areas
  • To enforce better standards of waste collection and introduce larger and better litter bins
  • Restore and keep Passport to Leisure for the disabled and low income families
  • Produce a Living Wage Economy, working towards fairer pay for workers in Preston
  • To use new powers from the Government to restart Council Housing in Preston, to help ease the housing shortage in the city.

There are many other policies, directed at giving hard working families proper services, but with an efficient and value for money council. The policies are based around 6 key areas

  1. Community and Crime
  2. Environment
  3. Value for Money
  4. Health
  5. Economic Development
  6. Housing

Preston Labour Party will use the new Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) to help pay for extra services, taking the cost away from the taxpayer. The Community Infrastructure Levy will require developers to contribute towards infrastructure projects such as parks, leisure services and playgrounds.

Over the coming days, Preston Labour Party candidates will be setting out the choice in detail that the people have in Preston; services dedicated to all the people of Preston under Labour, or a council run by a Tory/Lib Dem Coalition that cuts services for any family living in the city centre.
